Eligibility
NFG
began in 1980 as an informal network of funders
with a deep interest in community-based
grantmaking. Since then, our membership has
expanded to include hundreds of grantmaking
professionals.
Representatives from
institutions whose primary activity is
grantmaking are welcome to join. Our members
include private and community foundations,
family foundations, corporate foundations and
giving programs, religious giving programs,
public foundations, and other grantmaking
institutions.
NFG members are as
diverse as the communities they serve. They
work in every part of the nation, in both urban
and rural settings. The organizations that
members fund represent many different racial
and ethnic groups and a wide variety of program
approaches.

resources. It's easy to network and find
peer support.
Cutting-edge programs. NFG hosts
national conferences and regional meetings each
year on the most important issues facing
neighborhood grantmakers. We also organize
special events in collaboration with other
funding groups.
Timely publications.
The NFG Reports newsletter keeps members

community grantmaking field. Members also
receive monthly mailings focusing on community
development issues.
Professional
development opportunities. NFG offers
workshops on key topics such as community
economic development, housing, community
organizing, and public policy changes that
affect grantmaking.
